[1] INTRODUCTION ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [1.1] Author profile ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The nickname is IceBeagle, and I'm the author of this list. Domen Novak is my pal who did an awful lot of work on this list, as well as promised to put this list on his page. I suggest you check his Space Quest page out at http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Alley/7634/, 'cause it's pretty cool. Domen's primary e-mail is novakdom@bogomila.perftech.si He also has two other e-mails: novakdom@geocities.com and magnificent_one@hotmail.com (he doesn't check this one very often). My e-mail is icebeagle@hotmail.com If you think you know my name, forget it. On the 'net, I am IceBeagle. However, try to convince Domen to tell you my name if you want (you won't succeed, tho'). [1.2] How to get this and future versions of this list ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That's easy. You can get it at Domen's SQ page (address above) or contact us at icebeagle@hotmail.com We also have a mail list offer, see below! [1.3] Mail list ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you want to receive each version as soon as it's released, e-mail us at icebeagle@hotmail.com with the following info: Your real name Your e-mail address Your homepage URL (if any) Your nationality (optional) Any submissions, comments etc. you might have Your favorite dog breed (optional) Shortly afterwards, you will receive an e-mail saying something like "You've been added to the Cameo & Easter Egg mailing list. Good 4 U!" If you don't get a reply within a week, send another message. We always reply to mail list submissions. But since we don't have the time to write a thank you note beside every easter egg, we'll just thank him right here, right now. THANKS, TROELS! Thanks go to Sam Stoddard for writing the excellent Apogee FAQ, from which several Apogee cameos & easter eggs were "borrowed". Some thanks should also go to Eddie Moore for various submissions. Kris Stevens should also be thanked for signing Domen's guestbook (yes, you get credit for that) and telling us where to find Phantasmagoria Easter Eggs. And, of course, LordSoth must be thanked for posting this list on his page. Mark Stogner should probably be thanked for his many contributions. Lou Huang should be thanked for his many contributions. And, we must thank Ruben Van Der Leun, since we also "borrowed" some things from his Sierra Easter-Egg Collection (found at http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Lakes/3853). But, we also don't have time to write a thank-you note beside everything we sto-, er, borrowed. So here's the thank you note: THANKS!! Oh yeah, and he also contributed some other things. Oh yeah, and there is Rob Lewis, who put this list on the Mega-Games site. And we gotta thank Fred Zanfardino for his submissions. [1.5] Need help with a game? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Domen can supply cheats, hints, etc. for many games. Just send him an e-mail telling him what game you need help with and if you would like hints, walkthrus, cheat codes etc. He'll do his best to help you. [2.0] The Cameos and Easter Eggs (finally) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ATF Gold ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Start the game and press right CTRL, right ALT and right SHIFT. Hold them down and click on any mission. Now, click on the aircraft's name to change planes. Fly the plane named Qua*** (can't remember, and there probably isn't many choices). You'll be flying in a dinosaur with 750 Vomit Ammo and 4 Boulder Bombs. Also try out the Atomic Moth! Balls of Steel ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Duke Nukem appears in one of the tables. Bio Menace ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Commander Keen appears as one of the hostages in episode 2. The game contains artifacts from other Apogee games, such as Yorps from Keen and a portrait of Duke Nukem. Scott Miller, George Broussard, and Jim Norwood also appear in episode 2. Blood ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In E1L4 (the Dark Carnival), press the left-hand Warning sign in the Jo-Jo room. This opens up a room with a rather sad Duke Nukem hanging from the ceiling. Pushing Duke results in "Shake it, baby!". The grave in the secret area near the start of E1M1 says "DRAVEN" which is used for Eric Draven in the movie "The Crow". The zombies "brains, more brains" comes from "Return of the Living Dead". Using the wash-basin in the crematorium results in "Out, out, damn spot" a line from Shakespeare's play MacBeth. If you use the juke-box you get moaning & screaming. Using the wash-basin in the train-station kitchen results in "I like my hands bloody". In hidden area #1 (in level E1L4, I think) there's a prison uniform with "Kimble" written on it, from "The Fugitive" (Richard Kimble) In the Freakshow: Chanting "One of us" and the hand is saying "I'll swallow your soul" (Army of Darkness) Here are some interesting things Caleb (the character) says in episode one: (BTW, we got this from some text, but we've lost it. If anyone knows who wrote this, lemme know so we can give him credit) o If you 'open' the DRAVEN tombstone, Blood utters 'Nevermore', from Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven". o Using the bar in the train-station grill gives "I sure could use a drink" o Sings various broadway songs. "I did it my way", "There's no business like show business"... o Using rat-dog stand in carnival: "Mmmm, rat burgers" o Using the first balloon: "Do these blow up into funny shapes?" o "That's all folks" (Warner Brothers cartoons, usually Porky Pig) o "Okay, who wants some" o "I love the smell of napalm in the morning" (Platoon?) o "Is that gasoline I smell?" - Stallone & Snipes from "Demolition Man" o "Ta da!" - Whatever you want.... o "Who wants some, huh? Who's next?" -Bruce Campbell from "Army of Darkness" o "I have something for you." o "You just gonna stand there and bleed?" o "That'll teach ya!" o "Ooh, that wasn't a bit nice." o "Amateurs!" o "Fool! You are already dead." o "What're you gonna do, bleed on me?!" - Monty Python & the Holy Grail Here's a really fun one: Near the end of E1L2, there's a tunnel. Go in. Keep on going. Ignore the warnings. If you proceed far enough, you will get a surprise! >;-) Civilization 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Elvis is disguised as your attitude advisor. (this gets more and more obvious through time) Command & Conquer: Covert Operations ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ At the DOS prompt in the c&c directory type "C&C funpark" (WITHOUT THE QUOTES) Start a new game and you'll be playing against dinosaurs. Commander Keen 4: Secret of the Oracle ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In the Pyramid of the Moons, if you stand on a moon symbol and wait, Keen will moon you, instead of his idle activity of reading a book. Commander Keen 5: The Armageddon Machine ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Here's the location of John Romero's signature: go into the leftmost globe thingy on the Omegamatic and go all the way down. In the southeast, there is a secret passage. Jump inside, go down and walk to the left. Right below you are some pipes that spell ROMERO. Companions of Xanth ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Press Alt-F9 in the game. A menu pops up and will take you to different locations in the game: The Barrows, Com-Pewter, the Ogress, Humfrey, the Gourd. (submitted by Tegrenath) Also, a weird bug that you can get at the end of the game: Just before you do the final action in Xanth (not giving it away here!), eat the cherry bomb. Then do that last action. You'll win the game - but, you also die. What happens is that instead of playing the last "epilogue" part of the game after you've won, you'll be sent back to the beginning when you first talked with Grundy. Just keep playing like you did before, but because of this bug, the game will progressively get more and more distorted, weird, and messed up (graphics are messed up, navigation in the barrows sucks, and some puzzles stay solved, while other's aren't). It's only playable up to Com-Pewter; the bug causes it to repeat what he's saying, instead of moving on, and the only way of getting out of it is by rebooting. You may also get stuck at the troll's house, but at least you can restore or quit from there. (submitted by Tegrenath) Conquests of the Longbow ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you open the control panel and hit the Sierra button, the game will give you the credits, then inform you that "no guys from Andromeda" partook in the creation of the game, as a reference to Space Quest. Several employees of Sierra are at the fair. Try talking to everyone you can. (submitted by Fred Zanfardino) If you go back and forth along the shor ein front of the Fen's fortress dressed in your outlaw clothes, sometimes the Loch Ness monster appears out of the water. (submitted by Fred Zanfardino) When you visit the Cobbler's street a few times on Day 9, you will see a fly on the screen. You can squash it with your finger. BTW, it's a rather large fly. (submitted by Fred Zanfardino) Try shooting an imp with your arrow. (submitted by Fred Zanfardino) Click the half-heart emerald on the little figure in the center of the tapestry in the Abbey Rectory. You will be able to hear several characters from Conquests of Camelot in the tapestry. (submitted by, once again, Fred Zanfardino) Click the eye cursor on the individual monk cells on the floor plan map of the Abbey. Leisure Suit Larry is in one of the cells and a monk counting angels in in another. (submitted by Fred Zanfardino) Corel Print House ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Goto Help\About. Press Control & Shift Buttons down together and hold them down. Click on the icon of Corel Print House. It's a small program in itself. Move the balloon with the arrow keys. Shoot the fireworks by pressing the right mouse button. Turn on the balloon's lights with the left mouse button. Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Duke Nukem appears in episode 2, level 7. Several characters from the Simpsons are mentioned in the Hall of Fame (Bart, Homer, Itchy & Scratchy etc.). Crystal Caves ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Commander Keen's helmet appears, partially hidden by debris. Dark Forces ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In level 8, there's a chasm near your starting point. Walk off it slowly. You should land on a ledge. Walk north on this ledge to a cave. Inside the cave, walk around with your automap on. Hey, it's Max from Sam & Max Hit The Road, in his obligatory appearance! It is advised that you get the ice cleats before you do this, tho'. In level 4 (Research Facility), turn on invulnerability (with LAIMLAME) and turn on the "height checking disabled" mode (with LAPOGO). Now jump off the ledge near where you started. At the bottom of the chasm, head west, then go south near the west end of the chasm. You should pop up in a room with a chain hanging from the ceiling. Use the walls and you'll find a secret door somewhere. Inside is a chained Ewok with his eyes and tongue popping in and out. If you can't find this using our directions, turn on View Map mode (LACDS). The Ewok is at a blue spot east of two yellow triangular ones (on the map). On level 1, type LAPOGO LAMAXOUT & LAIMLAME and go out that door straight ahead of you when you start. Next to those 2 doors ahead of you are gray walls. Go over one of them. To do this just go straight up to it until you're on the other side. Go as far as you can to the left. Next to you is a big gray door. Go through it. There is a wall in front of you. On its right is a small door. Go through that door & blast 2 interrigation droids. Turn on your headlight and crouch to see a picture of Emperor Palpatine On level 6, type LAPOGO on the 2nd elevator. When you're on the 2nd floor, jump and there will be 2 doors next to you. Go into the one with the longest hallway. Turn on your headlight and look at the walls. On some of them, you can see graffiti saying "Ewoks Suck". Day of the Tentacle ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ There's a Storm Trooper helmet (from Star Wars) sitting in Green's room. There's a Star Wars calendar in Dr. Fred's office. In the past, there's a picture of Max (from Sam & Max Hit The Road) in the upstairs hallway (the one with the three doors). As Bernard you watch TV and there is an ad for a $2 million diamond. The number to call is 1-800-STARWARS. (submitted by Matt Onan) Death Rally ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Duke Nukem (from Duke 1, Duke 2 and Duke3D) is one of the competitors (VERY obvious). If you pick the picture of Duke Nukem as your picture (well-known blonde guy with sunglasses) and put DUKE NUKEM in as your name, you'll get to hear things from Duke Nukem 3D during the game, such as "Hail to the king, baby!", "Eew, this sucks!", "Damn.", etc. Diablo ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This little Easter Egg is a little hard to do. You'll need a graphics program such as Adobe Photoshop or Corel Photo-Paint. In fact, this isn't even in the game itself. What you do is you have to go to Diablo's Setup program, which is on the CD. At the main screen, press Print Screen. This will Copy the main setup screen to the Clipboard. Then, press Escape and get out of Setup. Run your graphics program, and then Paste the screen shot into a new document. Now comes the hard part. It's really not hard if you know what you're doing, but many computer users probably don't. What you need to do is use the Fill tool, change Color Tolerance to 0 (that's a Zero), and select a high contrast color such as pink, green, blue, or white. Now, click the Fill tool in the spaces between Diablo's horns. Two secret messages will pop up: "BUY WAR II" and "NATALIE PORTMAN ROCKS". The "BUY WAR II" message may not show up very well, however. (submitted by Tegrenath) (Editor's note: Very well hidden, don't you think?) Doom 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The secret levels (accessed through level 15) are levels 1 and 9 from the first episode of Wolfenstein 3D. (submitted by Mark Stogner) In level 30, use the clipping code (IDCLIP) and walk through the back wall where the face with the hole in the forehead is. You will see programmer John Romero's head on a stick. (submitted by Mark Stogner) In level 32 (secret level), in the exit room, there are 4 hung Commander Keens which you have to shoot to open the exit. (submitted by Mark Stogner) DopeFish Lives! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Double-click on the DopeFish on the intro screen. You'll get a screen showing DopeFish's cameo appearances in various games. On the level just before the last one, when you eat all but one fish, Commander Keen will swim over the screen, which is understandable, since DopeFish originally appeared in the "Well of Wishes" level in Commander Keen 4. Duke Nukum ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dr. Proton mentions Commander Keen in the first episode. Duke Nukem 3D ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In E2L7, there's a canyon with some caves. One of the caves contains Luke Skywalker. In E2L3, go up the conveyor behind the yellow door and you'll come to a circular hallway. Open a lit wall and look up. You'll see a button. Move as far away as possible and shoot the button. A wall will raise somewhere in the hallway (closes after some time). Run to it and through the opened passage. Go up the elevator inside. Welcome to the bridge of Starship Enterprise! :-) In E3L8, go through the waterfall on the second floor. You'll find the entrance to E3L10 and a cave. Push the bloody handprint on the wall to open the cave. Inside you'll find Indiana Jones (for fun, jump on the platform - you'd better scram afterwards, though)! In E3L10 (the secret level), there's a crusher in a building. Inside is T-100, from the Terminator series. In E1L5, jump down one of the ledges in the lava canyon just before you reach the spaceship. On the wall is a sign "DopeFish Lives" (the DopeFish is a character from Id Software's Keen 4, but has been "adopted" by Apogee). In E1L3, go to the chapel and stand against the far wall. Look above the altar and shoot the button. If you're in the right place, you'll be moved up. A monk from Rise of the Triad is hanging from the ceiling. A side note: blasting the monk also produces a healing atom. Also in the chapel in E1L3, "use" the ugly picture at the base of the altar, then break the left colored glass. Go through the opened passage to find the Space Marine from Doom! The submarine in E1L3 and E1L4 (USS Dallas) is the sub from "The Hunt for Red October". Look at the TV in the bar in E1L2. Hey, it's OJ in his Bronco! In E4L2 (only available with the Atomic Edition or Plutonium Pak), there's a sign in the room where dogs are locked up. The sign reads "Scrappy Due", which is a spoof on Scrappy Doo from the Scooby Doo cartoons. In E3L11 (the secret level), check out the police car near the exit. Hey, it's Car 54 from the old TV show! It's hard to see, but in E2L1, there's some letters on the attacking spaceship. If you want to see them, I recommend you extract the map from the DUKE3D.GRP file and view it in Build. The letters are on the side looking away from the station. For all those that are too bored to do it, the letters say "USS FRAMERATE". At the end of E3L1, there's a hole looking out into a part of E3L2. If you set "no clipping" mode (using the DNCLIP code) and walk through the wall into the fake E3L2 part, there's a message from the Levelord where the ATM machines should be. In the lava area in E1L5, fly (using the jetpack) up to the hole where the shrink ray is shot out from. There's another message from the Levelord there. Snake Plissken (from Escape from New York and Escape from LA) is in Episode 4 (yes, the one only in Atomic Edition or Plutonium Pak) along with a cool one-liner "Guess he couldn't Escape from LA". At the end of level 3 (Shop-N-Bag), there's a trash compactor. Open a wall here (you'd better stop the compactor first though or you'll get squished) and there he is (although dead)!! In reference to OJ's verdict, there are two billboards in the game. One is in the beginning of E1L1 and says Innocent? The other is in E3L7 (Fahrenheit) and says Guilty! In E1L1, there's a phone number besides one of the urinals in the bathroom. The number is a reference to an old song called "Jenny". The song is about a guy who found Jenny's number in a bathroom and kept bugging her. In Episode 4 (you know which one by now), level 5, one of the desks belongs to J. McClane (you know, the DieHard guy). Another belongs to J. Callahan. At the entrance to the secret level (for all those that can't find it, use George Washington's picture in the courtroom), there's the third desk which belongs to the judge. Judge Dredd, that is. In E1L1, there's an e-mail address written in the left stall at the bathroom. Anyone know whose e-mail this is?? There is a now confirmed rumor (yes, we actually bothered to check if all the letters appear in the level) that the message "Duke was here 2017" is somewhere in E3L8. Did anyone happen to find it? There are three one-liners that Duke says which are references to Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness. First, one of the level settings is "Come get some". Another is, sometimes when Duke picks up something he says "Groovy". Finally, often he says "That's gotta hurt", when he hits an enemy with the RPG. In addition to saying these lines, Duke uses a raspy voice similar to that of Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness. In E1L3, there's a poster of a girl in a prison cell. It is transparent and you can walk through, which reveals a hidden tunnel leading out of the prison. Following the tunnel is tons of sewage. This is a reference to the movie/book "The Shawshank Redemption". Stephen King was the author of the book (figures). The movie starred Tim Robbins and Morgan Freedman. Here's another message from the LeveLord: In level E3L4 (LA Rumble, Domen's favorite DukeMatch level), there's a helicopter near the end. Turn no clipping mode on (with DNCLIP) and walk through the glass. The message "You're not supposed to be here... either." is floating in the air, but it can be only seen from one side (therefore making it impossible to see from the building). In E4L11 (you know which episode that is), the alien ship from Independence Day is in the hangar (submitted by Mark Stogner). In E4L1, there's a tape recorder in the first room of the building (if you enter through the main entrance). If you use it, you'll hear the famous "This tape will self-destruct in one second." Then the recorder blows up. The number on the helicopter in E3L4 is M3KUN (NUKEM backwards). In E4L5, there's a copier machine in one of the offices. If you stand on it, a picture of Duke's butt will be shown with a tattoo saying "Lani" on it. Lani is Duke's girlfriend (at least according to the names of the VOC files for the end sequence of episode 3). Just in case you think the game's too hard, here's some tricks to beat two of the enemies (OK, this shouldn't be in the list, but I think people shouldn't get killed too much, and, it's fun to do this). To kill a PigCop Tank, get behind it and USE the self-destruct button on the back. If you do it right, the Tank will stop dead in its tracks, you'll hear a beeping (kinda like when you trigger a trip bomb) and after a few seconds, the tank blows up. To beat the miniboss (a small version of the first boss), duck and shoot him with the shrinker into the, ahem, weak point. He'll shrink immediately. In E4L11, there's a bus just outside the blue keycard door. If you look at the rear license plate, you'll see that it says "I LUV ET". The Protozoid Slimers bear a remarkable resemblance to the face huggers from "Aliens", don't they?? They cling to your face, they have acid blood etc. Even the manual says they resemble the huggers. In E1L1, in the arcade there is a Duke Nukem 2 machine. (submitted by Matt Onan) As a side note, using it will open a compartment beside it containing a HoloDuke. In the DukeMatch level Faces of Death (you can't get here in single player, unless you use DNSCOTTY to warp to E1L7), you can see pictures of the heads of the Duke3D Team, pasted onto astronaut suits. In E4L1 (yes, the Atomic Edition one), there is a TV in the barracks. (note: this TV actually works, although it looks like it's broken, just turn it on with the USE key). Beside the TV, there is a magazine. If you take a close look at it, you'll see that the name "Moger Roore" is printed on the cover, a spoof on Roger Moore. Dungeon Keeper ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hold down Left Shift and type FECKOFF or SKEKSIS for some greetings from the programmers. They will run until you release Left Shift. Start the game with command line parameter -alex and, while playing, hold down both Shift keys and type JLW for another greeting. Earthworm Jim ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Begin any level and type in IDDQD or IDKFA for some Doom references. Eureka Trash Pickup (Space Quest fan game) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Try TROELS as a password. In the SpaceBar cutscene, there's a small DopeFish. Click on it for an extra life and a word from Chris Geroux, the author. If you use NATHAN as a password, you'll get a "happy birthday" screen. Oh, yeah, and the Earth gets destroyed by a comet, too. Fantasy World Dizzy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ There's a picture of Dizzy in his last adventure hanging in the castle's main hall (not the castle in the clouds, the other one). Flight Simulator ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ You can find some pretty famous things around. They are: Space Needle (Seattle, Washington), Eiffel Tower (Paris, France), Pyramids (Giza, Egypt), Sphinx (Giza, Egypt), Space Shuttle (Cape Canaveral, Florida), Space Shuttle Vehicle Assembly Building - VAB (Cape Canaveral, Florida). Freddy Pharkas, Frontier Pharmacist ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ One of Leisure Suit Larry's ancestors appears in the game. So far, we've found him in two places: in the outhouse or in the saloon during part 4. If you look at the hotel's banner from the 'orehouse screen and try to touch it on the close-up, the game will say that you must be thinking of Al Lowe's other western game: "Plastic Man, Frontier Pharmacist". If you win the game and wait for some time, you'll see how the scenes were filmed. This mostly includes failed parts, such as Srini getting mad and walking all over the ants. :-)) Coarsegold is the place where Sierra On-line began. When you see people (or animals) wandering the streets, talk to them and touch them with the HAND. Sometimes when you try to talk to nothing, you can hear a doctor with a bad accent say: "And juzt houw long have you had zis obzession with talking to inanimated objects?". Sometimes, you can see a dustball rolling through town. This dustball also appears in SQ5 on Klorox II. When you pour the alcohol over the tracks, the snails will go to their doom, just like Lemmings. When you rescue Srini, Cedric from KQ5 can be seen near the bridge. When you walk there twice, Cedric will be eaten by buzzards. When you have to shoot Ace, try shooting other things and you hit another target. The game will then rewind. You can talk to the sheap at Madame Ovaree's place. Talk to her and touch her. Freddy can talk sheep very good. You can see some horses or sheep near the bridge. In Act IV, they are replaced with part horse, part sheap. In Act II, when you climb to the top of the water tower, Freddy will say that he's going to SierraLand. Use the shovel on the loose boards in front of the jukebox in your pharmacy. (you might need to click around for a while to find the right spot) A monster will appear and say "I'll swallow your soul!" In addition, Freddy will respond (in a raspy voice) "Come get some." This is a reference to Army of Darkness. Full Throttle ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- When the plans for stealing Corley's old bike from the Smash-a-torium are being shown read the text - instead of describing the use of the rally-cars it has messages from the design team - "So-and-so thinks he'll get chicks because he worked on this game" , etc. (submitted by Eddie Moore) On the wall of the Smash-a-torium when the racers are announced there's an ad for proto-cola from the Lucas Arts game "Defenders of Dynotron City". (submitted by Eddie Moore) The infamous helicopter attack music from the movie "Apocalypse Now" is played when you release the toy bunnies on the mine-field. (submitted by Eddie Moore) The Corley logo is a Honda Motorcycles logo with a "C" instead of a tire. (also submitted by Eddie Moore) Gabriel Knight ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In chapter 1, after you ask the desk clerk about Mosley and Crime Scene, go to Jackson Square. Get the mime to follow you. When he does, keep using the talk icon on him. Keep doing it until you hit him in theface. When leaving Schloss Ritter, right when the car is leaving, press Enter and watch as you crash the car. Green Eggs and Hamulator ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Pressing Command+G (Mac) or Control+G (Win) will cause a picture of the programmer's girlfriend to appear. (BTW, her last name is also Green, we think) Heroes of Might & Magic 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ When the screen with all the functions comes up, press Load, New, etc. Click on the door on the far left side and watch the Clips! Home Alone ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In the Living Room, the Manley logo is shown on the TV. Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The LucasArts logo can be seen on some of the walls in the Labyrinth of Crete. On the team path, you can trade the mask for something else at Omar's shop. If you select the baseball, then look at it, Indy will say it's signed by Ron Gilbert, the game designer. In Indy's office, look at the shelves beside the ladder. One of the things Indy will say is "I wish that purple meteor on the top shelf would stop glowing", in reference to Maniac Mansion, where a purple meteor tries to take over the world. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In the Nazi castle, look at the table in the room with the picture of dogs playing poker (this room is near the room with all the paintings). Indy will say that it's 14th Century Georgian Lucasian, in reference to George Lucas. Also in the Nazi castle, there is a picture of Dr. Fred and Nurse Edna (from Maniac Mansion and Day of the Tentacle) in the room with the paintings. In Indy's office, there is a totem. If you look at it, Indy will say that he got it from a strange tribe that worships dogs and rabbits. This is a reference to Sam & Max (comic characters, later on they starred in Sam & Max Hit The Road). When you're at the Second Trial in the Grail Temple, Indy will say "In , Jehovah is spelled..." One of these languages is Porcinum-Atinlay (Piglatin). In the Nazi Castle, when you're on the 1st floor, you can say something like "Gestapo. Special operations. I am Dietrich's successor." to a guard. He will respond: "Dietrich! Wasn't he killed in that 'Ark of the Covenant' fiasco?" This is a reference to "Raiders of the Lost Ark" (the first Indy movie), where Indy is searching for the Ark. Dietrich is one of the stupid Nazis that try to stop him. Jones in the Fast Lane ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ As a reference to Space Quest, the burger shop in this game is called "Monolith Burger". You can also order an "Astro Chicken" there. Other stores include: "Socket City" ("Circuit City"), and "Z-Mart" ("K-Mart") (submitted by Tegrenath) King's Quest 1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ There's a Coke can underwater in the well. King's Quest 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ After you've been on the magic carpet ride, there's a big rock. Look into the hole and you'll see a plug for Space Quest 1. The name of the game (Romancing the Throne) is called after Romancing the Stone. After you ste... borrow the basket from the mailbox, a little girl in red clothing will appear. And sometimes, the wolf is disguised as grandma. Now, where have we heard of this before? Could it be the fairy tale Red Riding Hood? ;) The king in the water is of course the famous Neptune. Go to Hagatha's cave, but don't enter. Walk south and north a couple of times and the Batmobile from the old series with Adam West will drive out and into the cave along with the theme music (updated by Mark Stogner). King's Quest 3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you look behind the tapestry outside your room at Manannan's house, you'll find plans for King's Quest 4. King's Quest 4 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ When you're swallowed by the whale, you can see a bottle inside of him. Take it and read the note inside. Many questions of troubled adventurers are written on it. King's Quest 7 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The game's subtitle (The Princeless Bride) might be a spoof on "The Princess Bride". Leisure Suit Larry 1 EGA ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ When dying and being transported underground to be "rebuilt", there are a lot of characters from other Sierra games down there. One of them is Roger's navigation droid from Space Quest I. Another is King Graham from King's Quest. There's a moose head in Lefty's bar. When you look at it, the game says that it's an old antique left over from King's Quest 3. In the ending sequence, Ken Williams appears and tells you about LSL2. The notes in your wallet say to buy more Sierra OnLine games. The business cards in your wallet are from Sierra OnLine. If you use the phone at the store to call Sierra OnLine (the number is on the business cards in your wallet), an answering machine tells you to buy a Leisure Suit Larry hint book. The name of the city (Lost Wages) is a parody of Los Vegas. Ken Williams is sitting in the bar (submitted by Mark Stogner). One of the possible shows you can get on the pimp's tv (at the bar) is "The Naugahyde Goddesses of Oakhurst", a spoof on "The Leather Goddesses of Phobos", an old adventure game. Look at the paintings in the hotel's penthouse bedroom. One is signed by Mark Crowe, one of the employees at Sierra OnLine. Leisure Suit Larry 1 VGA ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In the bathroom, a graffiti on the wall reads "Dr. Vohaul is a bastard! R. Wilco". This only appears in the Russian version of the game. Ken Williams is sitting in the bar (submitted by Mark Stogner). He's the guy that won't shut up. (unless you sit down and type "SHUT UP", of course) Leisure Suit Larry 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ When you're in L.A. in the beginning of the game, one of the screens depicts a number of shining office blocks and a couple of hedges in the front. (south of the dress shoppe) If you type "look", you'll be told that this place looks like it belongs in "Space Quest IV, The Coarsegold Encounter". Ken Williams is on the plane (submitted by Mark Stogner). Rosella from King's Quest is in the airport barber shop. If you LOOK AT GIRL, you also get points (submitted by Mark Stogner). At the airport, take all the bags for funny messages (submitted by Mark Stogner). Leisure Suit Larry 3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In the bar where Passionate Patti plays the piano, Roger Wilco (from SQ) and Elvis will randomly appear. At the end of the game, you wind up in a set for Space Quest 2. There are also sets for Police Quest and King's Quest 4 (latter part submitted by Mark Stogner). Ken Williams is Larry's boss and bowls him out the door (submitted by Mark Stogner). Leisure Suit Larry 6 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Art, the tram driver is none other than Al Lowe, the game designer. The guy at the floating bar that won't shut up is Ken Williams, the president of Sierra OnLine. In the shower, there's an tile with a different color than all the other tiles. Remove it and enjoy the view! Leisure Suit Larry 7 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Go to the library and click on the stuffed beaver. Choose "other" and type "milk". Then, after the Juggs put on their big show, you'll get an encore performance in their dressing room. After you see the Juggs perform, go to the backstage left area and click on the mixer. Choose "other" and "feel" and you'll get some earplugs. Now, when you talk to Drew about the fokker, you won't have to look at just her eyes. Talk to Drew after you have her suitcase. Click on the drink on the table and use your orgasmic powder. Then click on the drink and choose "other" and type in "drink". Next, talk to Drew about the suitcase using the conversation menu. When she gets up to leave, you'll stay out of the line of sight. When talking to Drew, click on the branch and choose "other", then "push". Hit control-P twice to activate psychedelic mode. Groovy! You can exit the same way. Click on the green button in the LoveMaster 2000. This produces a gigantic lava lamp in the atrium. For fun, talk to Capt. Thygh about "Al Lowe". If you get 1000 points, find all the dildos and see all the official easter eggs, an easter egg will appear at the end (for about 2 seconds). In the library, ctrl-click on the leftmost man in the shower. Now talk to Victoria about the weather. When talking to Jamie Lee Coitus, click on yourself and type "dream". The computer screen in the library is displaying the shower from Leisure Suit Larry 6. Ken Williams (Sierra CEO) is the balloon clown. The camera guy when Larry comes back from Jamie Lee Coitus' fashion show is Torin from Al Lowe's "Torin's Passage". The music playing while the Juggs are in the hot tub comes from "Freddy Pharkas", another game from Al Lowe. The Sierra logo is on Xqwzts's belt. J. Piel's name is written on the box in the room with the steering wheel at the bridge. He's one of the artists. There's a picture of Ken Williams with the pictures in the room with the "well guarded" safe door. The guy that's with the captain before you is Al Lowe. There's also a picture of Al Lowe behind Xqwzts's back. Al Lowe is taning on one of the chairs at the clothing optional pool. In the beginning of the game (in the burning building), the fireman gives you clues and tells you how to play the game. MicroSoft Windows '95 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To view the credits of the Windows team, right click on the desktop. Select New... then Folder. Name the folder "and now, the moment you've all been waiting for". Right Click on the folder and rename it to "we proudly present for your viewing pleasure". Rename it again to "The Microsoft Windows 95 Product Team!" Open the folder and the Windows 95 credits will be displayed The folder will remain around so anytime you want to view the credits again, re-open the folder. Press Ctrl-Alt-Del. Click on Explorer. Click End Task. When it ask to shutdown, choose No. Repeat until you get an error message. When the error message appears, choose End Task. Watch the animation on the taskbar (at the bottom). Be sure to close all programs before you do this. Download property.zip from Microsoft's web site. Install the True Type Font Properties extension ttfext.dll. Restart Windows. Open Fonts in the Control Panel. Right click on Times New Roman. Select properties. Select Tab reading "TrueType Credits". Click the START Button. Press Escape. Hold and the <->. Click CLOSE. To get the START Button back, restart Windows. Go to the start menu and click Help. Click the tab marked Find. At this point you may get a wizard asking you to set up Find. If you do, use the defaults. In the Find dialog box, click Options. Set the top section to: All the words you typed in order, set the next section to: begin with the characters you typed. Click OK to return back to the main dialog box, and enter in the top box exacly: "Who knows who built this tool?" (no caps). Hold down Shift and Control while clicking the Clear button. Click Options again, and set the top section to: At least one of the words you typed, set the next section to: contain the characters you type. And click OK to return back to the main dialog box. In the top box enter exactly: "The Shadow knows!" (NO CAPS). Hold down Shift and Control while clicking the Clear button. MicroSoft Windows NT ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To display the programmers' names in a very cool fashion, go to the main menu and select Control Panel. From Control Panel, select Desktop. Select Open GL 3D text as your screen saver type. Click on Options to configure the settings for the screen saver. Change the text that the screen saver will display to "I love NT" (NO CAPS!). Either wait for the screen saver to come up or hit test. The names of all the programmers will float in and out in 3D Text. This also apparently works if you put "I love NT" in other languages as well. One tested is "j'aime NT". If "I love NT" doesn't work, try "I like NT". For more OpenGL Eggs, go to Control Panel/Desktop/ScreenSaver. Change Screen Saver to OpenGL/3D-Text. Edit Settings. Change text to "BEER" (without quotes) for list of beers. Change text to "Rock" (also without quotes) for list of bands. Also, try "MUSIC", "Not Evil" (credits) or "Volcano" (displays names of volcanoes all over the world). Here's another screen saver egg: Open Control Panel, open Desktop. As the screen saver, select 3D Pipes (OpenGL). Click Setup, and set the joint style to mixed. When the screen saver comes on, look closely. Every once in a while, a "teapot joint" will appear. mIRC ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Open up the help/About windows. Type in the letters a r n i e. Check out the dinosaur! Get disconnected from any server. Right click the connect to irc server button 32 times. Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ When you use the rope & crowbar to swing over to Big Whoop, the Indiana Jones music is played. The scenes where LeChuck says he's your brother and where he asks you to remove his mask are rather like The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, aren't they? There's a phone in the Dinky Island jungle. If you use it, Chester from the LucasArts hintline responds. The LucasArts logo is on a wall in LeChuck's fortress. Indy's whip, hubcaps and an Elvis plate are in the antique store on Booty Island. There's another picture of the LucasArts logo in the library on Phatt Island. In the library, there's a book under Archeology titled "X never marks the spot" written by Indiana Jones. (be sure to check out the other books too) Sam and Max are hanging in the Costume shop on Booty Island. When you look at them, Guybrush is reminded to buy the comic book by Steve Purcell. Another picture of the LucasArts logo is on one of the coffins in Stan's used coffin shop (on Booty island). When you request the winning lottery number on Phatt island for the first time, you have to guess what the fingers mean. When you succeed three times, the guy inside says: "But I don't remember you". You get the choices: "What, you don't remember me?" and "No, I was just transferred here today, new orders." If you choose the second one, Guybrush will say that this was a flashback. In Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, you can say this to the Nazi guards in the castle where Henry is being held (although Indy WON'T say that it was a flashback). Another picture of the LucasArts logo is on a paper in the basement of the small cottage off the coast of Phatt island. In the library, there's a book under "New Age" written by Ron Gilbert, the game designer. Want to win really quickly? Press ALT-W. The LucasArts logo is on a sack in the kitchen of Governor Marley's mansion. Another book is written by Guybrush himself. It's titled "The Time I Blew Up LeChuck: Questionable Memoirs of Guybrush Threepwood." It's under Biography. (submitted by Tegrenath) When you go to the fortune teller to get the Love Bomb, she will say something like "Wait, I feel a sudden disturbance in the Force, as if a tiny voice cried out in terror... then scratched a message on a table." This is a spoof on Star Wars, where the Death Star destroys Alderaan and Obi-Wan Kenobi says "I feel a sudden disturbance in the Force, as if a thousand tiny voices cried out in terror and then, suddendly, silence." (or at least, he says something similar) Monster Bash ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Epic's Jill of the Jungle is mentioned in the story. Monster Truck Madness ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ During a race, hit 'H' for the helicopter. Now type in "TREX". Enjoy the new Dino Truck. Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ At the witch scene, type "noleaf" (you probably know: NO QUOTES). Click on the witch until she flashes. The leaf is gone! At the map scene (press ESC to get there), type "lobstergirl" (as you know, no quote marks) and you get a concentration-like game. Match the figures on the squares and you'll reveal pictures (probably of the game developers). MS-DOS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This works on older versions (prior to DOS 6.2). If you have Win 3.1, use the one in the \windows directory, not \dos. Star MSD.EXE. Select Help\About. Press F1. This joke has been removed from later versions. Multi-Dimensional Thief ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you try to touch the mirror in the mosaic room, the game replies: "There isn't a rumble from deep within the earth and the room doesn't shake." In Zork 1, touching the mirror sent you to another room along with the rumble and the shaking. Myst ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you play the file X:/QTW/Channel/holoamth.mov (replace X with letter of your CD drive) backwards (it's a clip of Achenar muttering gibberish in Channelwood) he says "Rush Limbaugh understands". To play it backwards, you'll need a program that can read .MOV files. For instance, in Movie Player, select "Play back and forth" from the Movie menu. Normality ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In the Stadium's sewers you can find the Ninja Turds, a parody of the Ninja Turtles. Orat Sportz: Soccer (Space Quest fan game) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Double click on the Orat on the intro screen. OS/2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In OS/2 2.1 and higher, touch Desktop with left mouse button (select). Press CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+O. Go to the OS2\BITMAP directory. From there type in "aaaaa" and hit enter. Paganitzu ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Yorp from Commander Keen: Vorticons and Keen's helmet appear. In episode 1, level 7 there's a message on the wall about auditions for a sacrifice at Chagunitzu. Chagunitzu is a game similar to Paganitzu, but was released a little earlier. Phantasmagoria ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This does not seem to work in chapter 1. Go to the baby's room on the third floor. Click on the baby's picture on the wall rapidly. If you do it correctly, the baby's eyes will glow and you will hear a psycho laugh. Click on the seat area of the bathroom chair seven times prior to clicking on the toilet at the first occasion Adrienne uses that facility in any chapter. The door will be closed in your face as usual, but, instead of a long and uneventful wait outside you will hear detailed toilet using effects. These include groaning, farting, sounds of defecation and urination. At the end, Adrienne may remark "How odd" or a contented "Ahhhhh". The voice that says "How odd" could be either Rosella or Valanice from King's Quest 7. Pictures of some of the babes from Leisure Suit Larry 6 can be seen in the realtor's office in town. The music playing in the background of the General Store is also from the Larry series. Roberta Williams (the designer) can be seen walking outside the antiques store in town just after Adrienne enters. She's alone, has short brown hair and wears a white cardigan and black pants. This seems to occur randomly. The hole Adrienne creates by removing the library fireplace bricks that block access to the chapel looks suspiciously like the mountain depicted on the Sierra logo. Using the drain cleaner on the manacles in the cellar will result in patches of "blood" appearing on Adrienne's head and shoes. The blood-like speckles also appear if you click on the drain cleaner while Adrienne is in the pantry and has the light turned on. In contrast with the cellar, there are no changes to Adrienne's head but there is more blood on her shoes. When you're talking with Malcolm in chapter three, there is a framed photograph by the fireplace depicting a green and black image of Chewbacca from Star Wars. Phantasmagoria: A Puzzle of Flesh ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In Curtis' home, click on the picture next to the book case to see the programming staff. Police Quest 1 EGA ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ One of the places where you can pull someone over is the Disco from Leisure Suit Larry 1 EGA. Type in "Jim Walls" or "Ken Williams" on the computer at the station for fun. The "Ken Williams" file says: "We can't get him to work and we can't get him to shut up." :) When you enter the boss' office and the chicken has been tied to the desk, the AstroChicken theme music plays (from Space Quest). Use the phone in the Narcotics office to call Sierra On-Line (number 209-683-6858). Someone accepting orders for hintbooks will reply. Police Quest 2 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the phone, call Sierra On-Line (number 209-683-6858). Al Lowe will tell you about a new Leisure Suit Larry game. (submitted by Eddie Moore) Leisure Suit Larry is sitting near the entrance to the plane at the airport (just past the metal detector). When you talk to him, the Leisure Suit Larry theme music is also played. Police Quest 3 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ken Williams is the district attorney at the Low Rider case (submitted by Mark Stogner). Josh Mandel is the coroner. (submitted by Mark Stogner) Corey Cole is the psychiatrist at the station. (submitted by, you guessed it, Mark Stogner) Police Quest 4 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ When you try to use the computer in Luella Parker's office (on the office screen, not the desk screen), the game responds that you don't have time to play Space Quest 5: The Final Frontier. Play one of the games at the Short Stop. On the high score screen, three names can easily be recognized: Larry Laffer (from Leisure Suit Larry), Sonny Bonds (from Police Quests 1-3) and Daryl F. Gates (the game designer). On one of the floors at Parker Center, Daryl F. Gates is standing right outside the elevator along with a guy taking notes. Pork 1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In Hell, several adventure authors are, such as Ken and Roberta Williams, the Zork programmers etc. The entire game is filled with parodies of Zork 1. Here's an incomplete guide: The tax collector - a modern version of the Zork thief. The grue - in Zork, a vicious beast that stalks in the dark and kills you. The loud room - in Zork, a room where everything would echo. Hell - in Zork, you have to ring a bell to get in too. But in Zork you also have to ring some candles and read a book, plus you don't get a tour of the adventure game programmers' section of Hell. The gas room - in Zork, a room filled with explosive gas. The game's title The rainbow - in Zork, you had to wave a scepter to get the pot of gold. Here, you get to wave money to get a pot full of pot. The diamond to coal procedure - in Zork, you had to turn coal into diamond. The bat room - originally, there was a vampire bat here instead of a baseball bat. In Hell, the guide will tell you about some non-existant Zork titles. Two of these are The Hitchhiker's Guide to Zork (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, great sci-fi book by Douglas Adams) and The Unessential Zork (the Essential Frankenstein). Quake ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In the shareware episode, take the path that leads to the nightmare difficulty level selection and shoot the square on the wall at the end of the stairwell -- you'll see a cryptic message that says, "The Well of Wishes awaits in the Crypt of Decay." The Crypt of Decay is a level in the registered version of Quake (episode two, level three). The Dopefish appears in a hidden area of this level. Visual instructions for getting to it appear on the Dopefish web page. Quest for Glory 1 EGA (Hero's Quest) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The antwerp in the Adventurer's Guild was slain by the Two Guys from Andromeda, aka Scott Murphy and Mark Crowe, the creators of the Space Quest series. The submarine from Codename: Iceman sometimes appears at Mirror Lake. At Erasmus' place, there's a plane labelled Lytton PD in the room where you first enter. Lytton PD is the police department in Police Quests 1-3. Also at Erasmus' place, there are some hieroglyphics on a stone. Look at them. The stone is described as a "Rosella stone" (reference to KQ4). Rosella is also on it. At the main menu, right click on the scorpion. Congratulations! You've discovered the first bug in the game! Sometimes during the game, you get bitten by a program bug (and die). Guess this is the Coles' way of saying: Error found. At Erasmus' place, look at the armor standing close to the stairs. You can see it's from Colonel Dijon(Dijon is a character from Sierra's "Colonel's Bequest"). The moose's head in the adventurer's guild is courtesy of the Sierra Prop Department. If you click on an uninteresting part of the screen and there's no response, keep clicking. Sometimes you get funny messages. The blackbird that appears in all of the QFG games is in the brigand leader's office (although the hero doesn't know what it's for yet). Try cutting up the spirea plant with your sword or attacking the white stag with a rock, dagger or flame dart. Then go to the Dryad. Save first, because you'll get killed. :-) Eat the mushrooms from the mushroom ring. Only do it once, 'cause you get killed the second time. One of the messages you can get when clicking on something that's useless tells you that you may have already won a free trip to Shapeir. You just need to buy Quest For Glory 2: Trial By Fire, coming soon to a software retailer near you. On the original Hero's Quest box, the three characters (fighter, magic user and thief) are displayed. Corey Cole is the fighter, Lori Cole is the magic user and Larry Scott (one of the programmers) is the thief. Talk to the bear at the kobold's cave (northeastern area of valley). The game will respond that bears can't talk. Try it again. This time you get a different answer. Quest for Glory 1 VGA ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The antwerp in the Adventurer's Guild was slain by the Two Guys from Andromeda, aka Scott Murphy and Mark Crowe, the creators of the Space Quest series. Look at the lamp in the inn. You'll get a message "Lamp for rent. Inquire in Quest For Glory 2: Trial by Fire for information.". The submarine from Codename: Iceman sometimes appears at Mirror Lake. Delphineus from Eco Quest 1 sometimes appears at Mirror Lake. Nessie also sometimes appears at Mirror Lake. If you look at a tree in the forest long enough, the hero calls it a Daventree (Daventry is the homeland of the King's Quest characters). In the town, find the poor beggar. When you give him an alm, talk to him. He will tell you a story about a man who invented a cider. He calls it Amblin Entertainment from Spielburg (referring to Amblin's Entertainment from Steven Spielburg). If you're walking around and the earth begins to shake, don't worry! It's just Earl Sinclair from the famous Dinosaurs series going either to work or back home. The gargoyle's questions at Erasmus' place contain a lot of cameos. The following things are mentioned: "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" (the "What is the meaning of life, the universe and everything?" question, the answer "42" and the comment "So you put some Deep Thought into the question, eh? (Deep Thought was the computer that found the answer)) "The Wizard of Oz" ("I am Oz, the great and terrible" answer, the gargoyle's reply "And who am I, Dorothy?" plus also the answer "The Wizard of Oz" to the question "Who do you seek here?" and the gargoyle's comment "Somehow, I don't think you're in Kansas anymore"), "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" ("I seek the Holy Grail" answer and the gargoyle's reply "Sorry, that Jones guy found it already"), "Secret of Monkey Island" ("I want to be a pirate" answer), "King's Quest" (answer "I am King Graham Cracker" and the gargoyle's comment "Right, and I am princess Rubella"), The Princess Bride ("I am Inigo Montalban." "You sold my car. Prepare to fly" (Originally a guy named Inigo Montoya, who's trying to avenge his dead father. He says "You killed my father. Prepare to die." a lot.)), Star Trek: TNG ("To boldly go where noone has gone before" answer). (the Princess Bride and the Star Trek: TNG stuff submitted by Tegrenath) Also at Eramus, look at the sarcophagus. You will see it's a Leyendecker sarcophagus(it has a ribbon around it). It is also tied in Laura Bow (Laura Bow is a character from "Colonel's Bequest", and "Dagger of Amon Ra", both from Sierra On-line) The moose head at the adventurer's guild is courtesy of the Sierra Prop Department. The blackbird that appears in all of the QFG games is in the brigand leader's office (although the hero doesn't know what it's for yet). On the screen left of Erasmus' mountain, you can sometimes find Elmer Fudd hunting wabbit (the screen where you can only go left or right). (submitted by macky@e2.empirenet.com) Try cutting up the spirea plant with your sword or attacking the white stag with a rock, dagger or flame dart. Then go to the Dryad. Save first, because you'll get killed. :-) Eat one of the mushrooms from the mushroom ring. Only do it once, though since you get killed the second time. In the ending scene, all the people who worked on the game can be seen. Also, Jerry Moore (right side of the screen) is in a Star Trek uniform. (submitted by Tegrenath) Look at the goblins popping out from behind trees, bushes, etc. in the goblin area. They have names like "Hollywood, the virtual goblin." (submitted by Tegrenath) The name Magic Mountain is the name of a series of amusement parks throughout the U.S. (submitted by Tegrenath) Talk to the bear at the kobold's cave (northeastern area of valley). The game will respond that bears can't talk. Try it again. This time you get a different answer. Quest for Glory 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In the intro, the Enterprise appears. You can examine things by right clicking on them. This is supposed to be used on screens where you have control, but try it in cut-scenes or the menu! At the house in Raseir where Zayishah asks you to give her your clothes, put on the X-Ray glasses before you hand over the clothes and the veil to the left will dissapear. :-) If you throw a dagger at the plant woman Julanar, the dagger will bounce off and effectively break your screen. That'll teach you to throw daggers at an innocent woman! Scramble the letters of the second city "Rasier". You get "Sierra". Try asking the griffin something. Somehow, I don't think the hero is translating properly... Among Keapon Laffin's goods is a hand puppet named Rosella (quite clearly a reference to King's Quest); some Orats-on-a-stick (from Space Quest 3); the USS EnterPrise (relabelled "The USS ExitPrise"); the Pillsbury Dough Boy, labeled as Doughbury Pills Boy; The Toaster that didn't work because there was no electricity, which also appeared in the magic shop in QFG1; The Antwerps from QFG1; Cookie Monster; Zippy the Pinhead (comic book character). Also if you look at the books, they give spoofs of real titles. (toaster, cookie monster, books, Zippy and the Pillsbury Dough Boy submitted by Tegrenath). When you ask the astrologer about the model, he'll tell you that it shows the relations between stars called "Xenon", "Ortega", "Phleebhut", etc. Naturally, these celestial bodies have all starred in Space Quest games. (except for Uranus) The blackbird you steal from Khaveen's house appears in all of the QFG games. The Marx Brothers were also put into the game. The first is Alichica, that annoying salesman right outside the inn. He is Chico Marx. The next is the saurus salesman, aka Groucho Marx. The last is Harpo Marx, and you can find him wandering through the streets of Shapeir. He's hard to find, though. I think you need to have Silly Clowns on to find him. It's possible to get to Raseir without the caravan. From the Shapeir overlook, go south until you're blocked by mountains. Go west for a long time. Eventually, you'll be able to go south again. Go south until you're blocked by mountains again, then go west again. You'll reach Raseir. This takes about 1 day game time, so have plenty of waterskins. Somehow, it doesn't make sense why the caravan needs 10 days to get there (the fight definitely didn't last 9 days). Oh, and you won't be able to enter, since you need the Visa (which you get when you go with the caravan). With Silly Clowns on, talk to Aziza about the Plant. The hero will make some funny comments. Check out all the stuff you can find in the desert, such as a plane, signs etc. Pictures of Merlin and Harry Houdini are hanging in the Wizard's Institute of Technocery. (submitted by Tegrenath) When you visit Aziza and the saurus comes in, he is called Roget The Saurus. (reference to Roget's Thesaurus, which I'm sure you know) (submitted by Tegrenath) Right click on the stuff in Aziza's house. She has stuff like a book on New Clear Fishin' (nuclear fission), something autographed by Captain Nemo (20,000 leagues under the sea), and if you look at the fish tank, it says that's the biggest bunch of carp you've ever seen. (submitted by Tegrenath) Talk to Simba in the Adventurer's Guild, when he is on the ground. He shows off. (submitted by Tegrenath) The kattas who sell food at the fountain plaza are colled Sloree and Scoree. If you mispronounce this, you get Lori and Corey, the names of the designers. At the money seller, type in "look at boobs". The game will respond "nice" instead of the usual "I don't understand". Quest for Glory 3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ There's a Silly Clown from QFG2 sitting in the Inn at Tarna. The moose in the bazaar is property of the Sierra Prop department (look at it, you'll see). Oliver Brelsford (the lead programmer) is sitting at the Inn in Tarna. He's the guy at the right table with the tons of food and a coke can. The weapon seller is selling daggers from the Aman Ra tribe, in reference to the game "The Dagger of Amon Ra". If you have a fire burning in the savanna and leave, a death message appears along with Smokey the Elephant. Then the game tells you that was just a test of the emergency death broadcasting system. For the funniest way to die, go to Salim's apothecary and sit down. Now light the pipes with your tinderbox and HAND them three times. Kids, don't try this at home! The weapon seller is selling a bow from the Lara tribe, in reference to Laura Bow. When you're starving in the savanna, the Awful Waffle Walker will start following you. If you cast a flame dart at him, you can roast him. The blackbird that appears in all of the QFG games (if you're a thief) is sold by the Junk Dealers at the bazaar. One of the random rumors the meat seller in Tarna tells you is that the Cubs have won the world series (referring, of course, to the Chicago Cubs and the World Baseball Series). Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy randomly appear in the savanna, dressed as French soldiers. In reference to Conquest of the Longbow, the weapon seller sells Conquest-brand arrows for the Longbow. (submitted by Tegrenath) There are signs in the savannah, like in QFG2. Ask the Apothecary guy about his Dream. He refers back to Julanar in QFG2. (submitted by Tegrenath) Look at the books in in Kreesha's house. They have names like Gone With the Wand. (originally titled Gone with the Wind) (submitted by Tegrenath) The junk dealers are Sanford & Son from an old TV series (Public note: I remember someone submitting this, but I lost the name. Will the submitter please raise his hand?) The only reference to Mordavia (the next land in the series) is by the money changer (submitted by Tegrenath). Quest for Glory 4 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ One of the books in the Adventurer's Guild is an advertisement for "Castle of Dr.Brain". The T.R.A.P. at Dr. Cranium's house mentions Smokey the Elephant sometimes (you know, the guy that appears on the fake death message in QFG3). The blackbird that appears in all of the QFG games (if you're a thief) is in a niche above the monastery's door. After you rescue Igor, go to the inn and sit down. Do nothing. (Bella must be on the screen for this) Wait a lot of time. Eventually, you'll see Bella lift weights. When you're outside Baba Yaga's house, look at the mortar & pestle. The narrator will say that it looks like it belongs to a frontier pharmacist, referring Freddy Pharkas, who is also a frontier pharmacist. Try to pick the lock of Dr. Cranium's front door (yes, the one with the doorbells). The message "Naughty" will appear under the nose. BTW, try to pick the nose above the door too. Raptor: Call of the Shadows ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Raptor was written by Cygnus, and it seems to be a birthday present to themselves. Whenever Raptor is started when your system's clock matches the birthday of one of the people at Cygnus, Raptor behaves a little strangely. Here's the list of recognized birthdays. You can reset your system clock to one of these dates manually, if you wish; any year should be all right, so long as it's not in the past: March 12 Bobby Prince May 16 Scott Host August 28 Rich Fleider October 2 Jim Molinets Note that in v1.0 of Raptor, Bobby Prince's birthday was not recognized, while Tim Neveu's was. What happens is this: first, the Apogee logo is displayed, but not with Apogee's trademark music. Instead, you hear the Cygnus folks, sounding a little tipsy, humming the Apogee theme music themselves. In version 1.1 and 1.2, Bobby Prince says, "You boys just don't get it, do ya?" immediately afterward. In addition, some of the Raptor levels contain enemies that don't normally appear such as monkeys who throw coconuts at you, raptor dinosaurs scurrying across the screen, and cows with machine guns concealed beneath their hides. Most of these peculiar enemies appear on the first mission of the game, and they are usually difficult to kill. Finally, when you exit the game, you get to hear the member of Cygnus whose birthday it is give an impersonation of a monkey. This might consist of hooting or screeching sounds, or simply an eloquent rendering of the word "monkey." (The raucous you hear when monkeys appear during the game are all the monkey impersonations playing together at random.) There is a way, beyond setting the system time to a particular birthday, of getting the monkeys and raptors and cows to fight you. When the screen comes up where you must choose a sector to fly, flip the switch at the bottom center of the screen by clicking on it with the mouse. It should darken. This activates the three lights to the right of this switch. In version 1.0 of Raptor, you should turn on the first and third lights; in v1.1 and v1.2 of Raptor, you should turn all three lights on. Then you can select a sector or "auto pilot" and fly the level. You'll know the cheat worked if you hear a static-like sound. All levels have some new enemy that appears by using this cheat, though sometimes they are small and inconspicuous. Besides monkeys, cows, and raptors, there are: the ship from 2001: A Space Odyssey, the ship from Space 1999, pedestrians, a woman sunbathing on a roof, and other miscellaneous items. Note, however, that if you activate the "battle cow" mode using the switches, as opposed to running the game on a Cygnus birthday, you don't get the goofy Apogee theme song in the beginning, nor the individual monkey impersonation at the end. (this whole section obtained from the GREAT Apogee FAQ) Rebel Assault 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ While in Level 12, the sewer, kill all the troopers in the first 3 sections. In the 4th, after the last troop goes down and you're in the elevator, press "a", "t", and "c". The screen may blink, but ignore it. When the elevator door closes, wait until you see the Imperial Officer and the Stormtrooper talking, look behind them to see the "Ballet of the Troopers". When you're fighting with the storm troopers in level 11 at the part with he bridge which is out, shoot at the three things that support the bridge, at the level above, whilst there are still storm troopers on the bridge (very important). When you see the small movie where one trooper is crushed and one jumps off, press B and T, and hold them until the end of the original movie... Now you get to see what happens to the guy that jumped off. (submitted by Ruben Pascal Van Der Leun) If you call your pilot after some of the following names, you can see some small funny movies : Jamison Jones, Julie Accles, and Gary Martinez (With caps). (submitted by Ruben Pascal Van Der Leun) If you have activated both cheat modes(By pressing alt+V, and typing isnotry, and letgo), press alt+V again, and type : tovres. In the movies, the text of the actors is replaced with text, but this time, with very funny text, like Darth Vader asking for popcorn. (submitted by Ruben Pascal Van Der Leun) Press and hold BOT at the opening menu. Now, press Replay Intro. Return to Zork ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The blind bowman in the forest is a takeoff of King Graham from the King's Quest series. He dresses the same and when you look at his bow and arrows it says his name is Bowman Graham. (submitted by Fred Zanfardino) When you are in the ship-in-the-bottle, go outside the captain's cabin and go left. If you wait a while the shark from Jaws will show up, accompanied by his familar theme music. Be sure to save your game! (submitted by Fred Zanfardino) From the left side of the ship, dive down. You will find a dead Guybrush Threepwood (from Monkey Island) and the message "I guess his 15 minutes are up." Also, there is a rag in the bottle with the initials G.T. on it. Obvisiuly it was Threepwood's rag. (submitted by Fred Zanfardino) Rise of the Triad ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you speak Latin, listen to El Oscuro (the final boss). If not, most of the things he says are "I'll kill you" and stuff like that. However, one of the things he says is "Eat your veggies!", as a reference to DopeFish. Eat Your Veggies is the title of the music of the level where DopeFish appears. The "Eat Your Veggies" sentence is the one beginning with "Comedi..." (obtained from the Apogee FAQ) Also, the first level in the Rejected ROTT Levels collection (available from the Apogee website and varius other places) is titled "Use the Fish" (another reference to DopeFish). The reason?? When the Apogee staff sent a message to Id asking to include the DopeFish as a cameo character, the reply was "Use The Fish". Also, look at the map while playing. You'll see that the map is essentially the DopeFish, you're playing inside! (reason for title obtained from the Apogee FAQ) If you start ROTT when your system clock indicates that it's one of five different holidays, the "group picture" of the five main characters is changed slightly. In addition, on Christmas, the music for the first level is changed to a familiar Christmas tune. The holidays and effects are as follows: Easter Lorelei Ni wears Easter Bunny ears. Cinco de Mayo 05/05 Ian wears a sombrero. Independence Day 07/04 Doug holds an American flag. Halloween 10/31 Thi wears a witch's hat. Christmas 12/24 Taradino wears a Santa Claus hat; new music 12/25 for the first level. Also, there's a way to get all five "holiday hats" in Rise of the Triad to show up on the screen at the same time. If you finish the game the right way, and destroy all the larvae in the last level, watch ALL the credits (takes several minutes). You'll get to a screen that says "The HUNT is victorious. The End." Do nothing. Let it sit there for about a minute or two, and you'll get another "The End" screen where all five "holiday hats" are shown at once. (obtained from the Apogee FAQ) In the secret level "Eight Ways To Hell" (episode 3, area 8), designed by Joe Siegler (a noted and revered Dopefish follower), there's a hidden area about half way through the level. It's a long, narrow hallway with boulders running down the middle and elasto-modes on the sides. There's a touchplate at the beginning of the hallway which, when triggered, will open up a secret room. The gray walls in the middle of the secret room spell a message written in the Commander Keen language. Look at all the gray walls from all angles, or use the \MAP cheat. Then look at the map to see the letters. Translated, it says, "Dopefish Lives!"(obtained from the Apogee FAQ) It's hard to see, but there's a license plate on the back of the NME (the boss in episode 3). It looks like a Texas license plate that says "Spray." (Spray is the NME's nickname, given by the ROTT developement team.) Starting the game with "rott dopefish" (no caps) will put you into DopeFish mode. This makes Scott's mystical head appear on the intro screen. Lee Jackson's musical composition "Fish Polka" will play. Joe Siegler will burp Also, when you move around the menu, Tom Hall will say "O", "K" or "Boy!". The level names are also changed (not on the level warp screen, on the screen when you're entering the level). In a secret area of a level (sorry we're not telling where), you can find "Scott's mystical head". This is a pic of a shocked Scott Miller and it's worth tons of points. Krist's chair is actually a comfy chair. The controls on it are actually office staplers, although you can't see that. Roger Wilco vs. Buzz Buzzer Bizz (Space Quest fangame) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Domen plays the bartender (probably 'cause he's a friend of the game's author). When you get out of the sleep chamber in Domen's ship, look at the other ship. It's a Renault 2000. Sam & Max Hit the Road ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Bernard from Day of The Tentacle is disguised as the Snuckey's proprietor. However, he's never correctly displayed. In DOTT, he has glasses. Here, he either has a moustache, a moustache and glasses or none of the two. When reprogramming the droid at Bumpus' mansion for the first time, Sam will make the droid display a woman saying "Help me Sam & Max, you're my only hope." This is a parody of Star Wars, where R2D2 plays a recording of Leia saying "Help me, Obi Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope." The droid at Bumpus' mansion is a "MacroHard maintainance droid." MacroHard is clearly a spoof on MicroSoft. Secret Agent ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The teddy bear from Keen: Vorticons appears as a bonus item. Secret of Monkey Island ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ At the monkey head on Monkey Island, there's an idol that looks like Sam and Max from Sam & Max Hit the Road. Someone is advertising "Loom" in the Scumm Bar. Under one of the rocks in the forest leading to the Sword Master's house, Guybrush will say something like, "Hey! There's an entire catacombs down here!" This is probably a reference to the catacombs from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. You will then be prompted to insert some nonexistant Disks with really high numbers. Of course, it's all a joke. (as a side note, someone in the ending credits is actually credited for all the work done on one of those disks.) (submitted by Tegrenath) Another reference to Loom is the bird that's outside the bar's kitchen. It's exactly the same one, although it's eating a different thing than the one on the dock in Loom. (submitted by Tegrenath) The Scumm bar is a reference to Maniac Mansion. SCUMM stands for Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion. It was the engine used in the game. (submitted by Matt Onan) And, as a side note, the smiley face on the bar's sign is the SCUMM logo. After being shot out of the cannon in the circus tent, Guybrush says "I'm Bobbin Threadbare, are you my mother?". In Loom you play a weirdo named Bobbin Threadbare and the whole point of the game is to find your mother. (and cause tons of damage in the process) When you're on Monkey island, you'll have to walk up to the cliff. Now walk way to the right. You'll fall down, and a game over screen appears (Just like in old Sierra games), and it asks if you want to restore, restart or quit. But soon afterwards, Guybrush comes flying back. The reason? Rubber tree. (submitted by Ruben van Der Leun) Sim Ant ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Nothing to stop you from morphing into the spider... Sim City 2000 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you click on the helicopters that fly overhead with the center button (looks like a target),the pilot will scream out "I'm hit!" and spiral to the ground and explode. Be careful or you will start a fire. (submitted by Mark Stogner) While running SimCity 2000, type "porn". You should hear a voice singing "can't get enough" (apparently the words from a song one of the programmers was listening to at the time). Type "damn" while playing, and a dialog box should respond "Same to you pal" After clearing a large section of forest, the citizens will protest. If this happens repeatedly, you will be asked if you want to hear the call of the moose, the inhabitant of the forest you're destroying. Click "Yes" to hear it. Sim Copter ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Exit your helicopter, and go into your hangar. Upon entering, point your mouse at the little red spot in the back window. Leave the mouse there for a couple of seconds, and the words "You found Waldo!" will pop-up. Sim Golf ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To turn your ball into an exploding sheep, press CTRL and S, let go of them and type BOMBSHEEP. SkyFox 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Boondocks Expedition Mission: To get to the base described go North past all of the bases any you should find a wormhole that isn't marked on the game's map. Nearby is a base shaped like a Converse sneaker. Dock with it and you will either see an enemy ship flying out of a base(CGA version) or pictures of the game's developers(Tandy/EGA version) (submitted by Eddie Moore). Space Quest 1 EGA ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In early versions of the game, type "ken" on the first screen of the game. Ken Williams will appear, complaining how the game was behind schedule. This has been eliminated in newer versions (guess Ken Williams found out about it). In the bar at Ulence Flats, the Blues Brothers and ZZ-top appear randomly. When you press the "don't touch" button in the escape pod, you'll wind up in King's Quest 1. When you talk to one of the guards at the Deltaur, he will eventually ask you if you've played King's Quest. (Note: answering yes gets you points.) If you type in "scott" or "scott murphy", Scott Murphy will ask you to drop him a line at Sierra OnLine and tell him if you liked the game. Droids-B-Us is a parody of Toys-R-Us. Walk behind Droids-B-Us and type "TAKE LEAK" (no caps). You get one of three messages. Sorry, no graphic! You can also get 5 buckazoids back there. The mugger at Ulence Flats is actually the bounty hunter who tried to capture Han Solo at the Mos Eisley Cantina in Star Wars. About the name Ulence Flats... remove the "s" from the end of Flats and put Flat at the beginning of Ulence. You get Flatulence. Space Quest 1 VGA ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The triple-breasted hooker from Eroticon VI (reference to Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) is sitting at the bar at Ulence Flats. When leaving Ulence Flats, the time pod from SQ4 pops up. The droid in the Deltaur's armory is Marvin, the ever-popular superintelligent paranoid android from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The Warbird from Star Trek appears in the intro and when you choose the wrong coordinates for your ship three times. The closet door in the Arcade shuttle bay entrance bears the logo of a sword through a planet - used by the Alternate Federation in Star Trek: Mirror Mirror. When entering the hologram area on Kerona, the theme song starts out like the theme song from "2001: A Space Oddysey", but then changes into something different. When you press the "don't touch" button in the escape pod, you end up at Nottingham Castle, featured in "Conquests of Camelot". The storedroid working for Droids-B-Us is Robbie from "The Forbidden Planet". The Blues Brothers, ZZ-top and Madonna appear in the bar at Ulence Flats. The nose of a Star Trek: TNG shuttle is sticking out from behind the bar. The Xenonian man that awards you with the Golden Mop at the end of the game is King Graham from the King's Quest series. Droids-B-Us is a parody of Toys-R-Us. There's even a modified version of the Toys-R-Us giraffe in front of Droids-B-Us!! At Ulence Flats, look at the mountains in the distance. Yowammy National Park is mentioned. This is a parody of Yosemite National Park. The Droids-B-Us viewscreen contains a lot of spoofs. Here's some: * The Dalek robots from BBC's "Doctor Who" (pur-suit! pur-suit!) * The Lost In Space babysitter droid (Danger!!! Danger!!!) * "Max" is the Maximillian droid from "The Black Hole" (Contributed by Fred Zanfardino) * There's an Arnoid arm on the counter, from SQ3. * The head on the counter is described as an "Ultron-17". Ultron is a robot character from a Marvel comic, and looks exactly like the head in SQ1VGA. * The DEF-TECH droid on the screen is the Riflemen mech from Battletech. * The HU-1D droid is "Huey" from the movie Silent Running. About the name Ulence Flats... remove the "s" from the end of Flats and put Flat at the beginning of Ulence. You get Flatulence. Space Quest 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The kissing alien in Vohaul's asteroid is the alien from Ripley Scott's "Alien". ED-201 from the RoboCop-movies can be seen in Vohaul's asteroid. He's the thing chasing you away from the escape pods - however, he has cleverly been re-labelled "Vohaul MarrowMatic". While playing, type CHEAT and press return. This brings you to an alternate "THE END" screen (as the one in SQ1) with 255 out of 250 points. A graffitti in Vohaul's toilet reads "King Graham cross dresses.", in reference to King's Quest. Also mentioned are Al Lowe and Ken Williams. When Roger is caught in the hunters snare on Labion, he dreams he is Leisure Suit Larry. When you need to deactivate the salesman launch, the code TITS also works. The Labion Terror Beast is a spoof on the Tasmanian Devil. The Cubix Rube is a spoof on Rubic's Cube, a litte puzzle made by Erno Rubik, a Hungarian. Type in "take condom" anywhere in the game (except maybe outside the station at the beginning). (submitted by Jason Coleman, I think) Space Quest 3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ There's a small signature hiding in the introduction sequence. The pic where the droid is monitoring the escape pod - in the right lower corner, there's a signature reading "Crowe" (as in graphic artist, Mark Crowe). In the programming cubicles at ScumSoft, there are two guys walking up and down with big whips. These are Ken Williams and Rick Cavin, who was head of production at the time (information about Rick Cavin obtained from Troels Pleimert's SQ FAQ). Arnold Schwarzenegger plays the Arnoid Annihilator android. When you first arrive to Monolith Burger, the USS Enterprise (from the original series) warps out of there. The Aluminum Mallard is a spoof on the Millenium Falcon from Star Wars. Ken Williams appears in the end sequence. There's a TIE fighter (from Star Wars) in the garbage ship. However, it's been renamed to a bow-tie fighter from the cologne wars (the original movie mentions the Clone Wars). Also in the garbage ship, the ship Jupiter 2 is from the old "Lost in Space" series. Fester has a postcard from Arrakis in his shop. Arrakis is the planet from the movie "Dune". The game's subtitle, "The Pirates of Pestulon", could be a twist of the musical "The Pirates of Penzance". ScumSoft is a parody on Microsoft, and Elmo Pug seems to bear a striking resemblance to Microsoft CEO, Bill Gates. If you eat a Big Belcher Combo at Monolith Burger and go back in the ship, Roger will come out and throw up. Space Quest 4 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ At the Big and Tall store at the Galaxy Galleria, you can occasionally spot a guy rummaging around, occasionally pulling out a pair of red shorts. This is Bob Andrews, former Sierra OnLine programmer. The games at the software store are all parodies of other games. Here's a list of the parodied games: "Boom" by Morrie Brianarty is a parody of "Loom" by Brian Moriarty. "It came for Dessert" is a parody of "It came from the Desert". "Defender of the Crown Rib Roast" is a parody of "Defender of the Crown". "Where in the World is Hymie Lipshitz (and who really cares)" is of course a parody on "Where in the World is Carmen Santiego". "Sim Sim" from MaxThis is a parody on the Sim games from Maxis. "Cluck Egger" lets you design a chicken and fly it over barnyard scenery. This is a parody on the flight simulator "Chuck Yeager". Leisure Suit Larry is mentioned on the recording in Xenon's sewer control room. When you're in the pterodactyl's nest on Estros, you can see something streak across the sky. This is in fact King Graham being carried by a condor (from King's Quest 1). Luke Skywalker's little red speeder is disguised as the crashed hovercraft on the Xenon streets. The Quest for Glory, Space Quest, King's Quest and Leisure Suit Larry theme music is occasionally played in the Software Store at the Galaxy Galleria, made out to sound like a PC internal speaker. Cedric, the owl from King's Quest 5 has an appearance in the Ms. Astro Chicken game at the Galaxy Galleria's Arcade. The trash can in the Galleria's Arcade is one of the agents from "Get Smart". Try talking to it, you'll see what I mean! During your visit to Ulence Flats, the Blues Brothers appear on stage at the bar, since they also appear in SQ1. There's a secret time code in the game that takes you to Ortega (SQ3). It's simple: type in the top row left to right, then type in the leftmost symbol in the second row. The robots in the SuperComputer are the Imperial ProBots from the Star Wars movies. In the Control room of the SuperComputer, two programs immediately come to mind: King's Quest and Leisure Suit Larry. The Latex Babes of Estros might be a parody of the Leather Goddesses of Phobos. If you smell the back of Droids-B-Us at Ulence Flats, the game says: "Smells like another lawsuit coming back to haunt the Two Guys from Andromeda". The reason?? Scott Murphy and Mark Crowe got sued by Toys-R-Us for putting Droids-B-Us in SQ1. When you first visit the Software Store at the Galaxy Galleria, the bouncer will tell you that the Two Geeks From Andromeda are in there, signing copies of their latest release. Josh Mandel is disguised as Hymie Lipschitz on the software parody box. An Eveready Energizer bunny appears on the Xenon streets. It's possible to talk to the ingredients in the Monolith Burger arcade sequence. Also try smelling or tasting 'em. On the destroyed streets of Xenon, if you click the tongue on the dome in the background, the game says: "The only way your tongue would reach that far was if you were in a Leisure Suit Larry game!" One of the questions in the (fake) hintbook read "I can't find the one-armed man anywhere." The answer is given as, "Ask Bob". This is a reference to Twin Peaks. The subtitle for Ms. Astro Chicken ("Flight of the Pullet) is a poke at Spectrum Holobyte's "Flight of the Intruder". The Super Computer's hard disk contains King's Quest XLIII and Leisure Suit Larry IV. In the Ms. Astro Chicken game at the Galaxy Galleria, you can sometimes see a plane fly by with an advertisement for Media Vision. The Latex Babes' balance on the ATM machine is 2001. Coincidence? (submitted by Mark Stogner) The music in the sequence where you fight the slug on Estros might be from one of the Captain Kirk fight scenes from Star Trek. (submitted by Mark Stogner) The plot is a lot like Terminator. Both have time travel, both futures are set in a wasteland where cyborgs fight an alliance, and both involve a supercomputer. (submitted by Mark Stogner) Space Quest 5 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Worf from Star Trek is sitting in the academy's classroom. However, he has been renamed "Woof" and is described as the academy's ambu-jitsu champion. Elvis appears in the right half of the academy rotunda. Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi are fighting their famous lightsabre battle in the academy hallway. One of the ships in the Academy's shuttle bay is for sale. Just call Fester Blatz (the guy who owned World O' Wonders in SQ3, then moved to Polysorbate LX). (submitted by Tegrenath) In the academy's landing bay, there's a skull fighter from SQ3. The guards in the rotunda are playing games on their consoles. Specifically, they're playing "Asteroids" and "Missile Command". In the Eureka's shuttle lab, there's a display above the teleporter. The computer is playing an old (REAL old) game called Pong on it. The moon visible through the academy's rotunda windows is described as "one of the nine moons of Nova", in reference to the Dynamix game Nova 9. The coordinates to Klorox are 90210 - the same as in that ridicilous movie. The Tasmanian devil is in one of the cages at Genetix (then again, it might be the Labion Terror Beast from SQ2). The Astro Chicken from Space Quest 3 has a quick appearance in the Eureka's pod bay. There's a row of lockers to the far left. Open the leftmost one and watch! The PacMan makes a quick appearance in the Goliath's ventilation system. On level 8, find the intersection where you can go in all four directions. Go left. Roger will come back, followed by the PacMan. Both Flash Gordon and Albert Einstein are mentioned on the academy's grade machine. They both fail, too. The Millenium Falcon is disguised as the bridge simulator (check it out when Roger walks away from the sim). Patrick Stewart (who plays Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek) plays the mutated colonist at Klorox II. One of the ships in the academy's shuttle bay belongs to the Two Guys from Andromeda (Scott Murphy and Mark Crowe). The main theme song, played during the introduction sequence, was made out to be a spoof on the title song from Star Trek - The Original Series. The entire SpaceBar sequence is a spoof from Star Trek: The Trouble with Tribbles. Captain Quirk has a Dynamix coffee cup. It's visible when the Eureka intercepts the strange transmission. When Roger is taken to the Eureka, the game says that he "undergone an extensive captain's training seminar on the planet Oakhurst". Oakhurst is, as we all know, the seat of the Sierra On-Line HQ. The Galactic Inquirer is obviously a spoof on the National Inquirer. (submitted by Eddie Moore) Spike is a face hugger from Ripley Scott's "Alien". He even has the acid that eats through the ship's hull, just like in the movie. (submitted by Eddie Moore). The Genetix motto is a parody of the DOW motto. (originally We Work Hard so You Don't Have to) (corrected by Julian Gray) There's also an ad for Genetix in the manual, which is a spoof on the BASF commercials. (submitted by Eddie Moore) The music during the trash pickup is the music from the opening sequence in 2001. Cliffy's rescue at Thrakus is taken out from 2001. (submitted by Eddie Moore) The robot flying around behind you while taking the exam is a white probot from Star Wars. (submitted by Eddie Moore) In the Academy's hangar are some fighters Roger describes as "ships from the colonial wars" (Colonial Fighters from "Battlestar Galactica). (submitted by Eddie Moore) All the planets in Space Quest V are either parodies of something, or just names that have been horribly misspelled. Here's the most obvious... * Thrakus Mark Crowe told Troels, that Thrakus is not a spoof on anything. He just liked the sound of it. * Kiz Urazgubi Try "mispronouncing" it, and you'll come up with the colorful phrase: "Kiss your ass goodbye." * Lukaszuk II Mispronounce this and it'll become a very unsubtle greeting to the competitor, LucasArts. It might also be a reference to two employees at Dynamix, named Piotr (credited "Peter" in 1992) and Darek Lukaszuk. * Gingivitis A disease. * Monostadt VII This is a treatment for women's vaginal yeast infections. * Klorox II A cleaning fluid. * Gangularis Also a disease. * Commodore LXIV If I were to tell you that LXIV is the Roman numeral equivelent to 64, what ancient home computer would you be thinking of then? * Peeyu An utterance of disgust, often used in combination with horrible smells. "Pee-yuu, that STINKS!" * Spittoonie In the Old West, a "spitoon" was the little bucket in which guys would spit in their tobacco. It might also be a spoof on Luke Skywalker's home planet, which was called Tattoine. The SCS Lollipop in the academy's shuttle bay is a reference to that old song about the good ship Lollipop. (submitted by Tegrenath) Also in the academy's shuttle bay: On one screen it shows just the nacelles of what looks like the USS Enterprise. I think it's the one from Star Trek III. (submitted by Tegrenath) WD40's taunt on Kiz Urazgubi "Come out and face me like a woman! It's your destiny!" is from Star Wars. (submitted by Tegrenath) The trash bag during the trash pickup sequence is labeled "HUSKY" (parody on Hefty bags?) (submitted by Tegrenath) All transmissions are done by Sprint. Talk about advertisements... (submitted by Tegrenath) Droole can be seen reading MAD magazine and playing a Gameboy in the Eureka. (submtited by Tegrenath) The voice of the academy teacher, inaudible mumbling, is from the Charlie Brown cartoons. (submitted by Tegrenath) The Starcon Aptitude Test is obviously a parody of the SAT. (submitted by, you guessed it, Tegrenath) The walls of the classroom is an imitation of the ones on TNG's Enterprise. (also submitted by Tegrenath) The computer screens on the Eureka's bridge are imitation of Star Trek's, again. (submitted by Tegrenath, again) Roger's speech when he first boards the Eureka is full of cliches and other well known lines from all over. (submitted by Tegrenath) The self destruct thing is another Astro Chicken reference. (submitted by Tegrenath) When Roger Wilco opens the utility closet at the academy and everything falls on him, you can hear him say Homer Simpsons favorite word DOH. (the voice is Homer's, I think) (submitted by Mark Stogner) On question 4 of the SAT one answer refers to an Original Star Trek episode where Kirk and a lizard man are put on a planet where their only defense is the weapons they make out of the elements on the planet. Space Quest 6 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ There's an imperial shuttle from Star Wars in the DeepShip's shuttle bay (along with the message: "Remember your parking space, Luke!"). The alien from Scott Ripley's "Alien" pops up after Wriggley (pun intended) helps you restarting the stolen ship's engines. Laurel and Hardy are disguised as guard nanites near the entrance to Stellar's brain. A graffitti in the DeepShip 86's brig reads "Sarek lies!". Sarek is a character from Star Trek. E.T. is sitting in Boot Liquor on Polysorbate LX. Elvis sometimes pops up in 8-Rear. The Road Runner gets a mention in cyberspace - the unmistakeable bowl of "free bird seed" is sitting underneath a huge rock. 8-Rear (the DeepShip's lounge) is a spoof on 10-Forward, the lounge on the USS Enterprise. The Vulgar nervepinch is a spoof on the Vulcan nervegrip that Spock so often uses in Star Trek. Several elements from "Back to the Future" are mentioned on the Popular Tektronics CD in Nigel and Singent's apartment. Check under the section "Building a time machine out of a DeLorean". Dorff mentions a planet called Daventry VIII (not sure about the number) when you're locked up in the brig. Daventry is the homeland of the characters in King's Quest. The Popular Tektronics CD in Nigel & Singent's apartment mentions an e-mag called "Mired", a spoof on "Wired". Elton John appears during Magnum's transformation in the Shuttle Bay Entrance. However, the song he is singing is in fact the title music from King's Quest 6, "Girl in the Tower". The original piece was only available on the CD version of KQ6. When using Dr.Beleauxs' communications system, the name Plodigy pops up. This is a spoof on Prodigy (the speed is also quite accurate). Elvis is a victim of a poster manipulation in Nigel & Singent's apartment. Talk to something in the alley outside the Orion's Belt (in the part of the alley you can't go into). You'll get two messages. One is from Star Trek, the other from 2001. When talking to the left door in the Ascend-O-Pad at Delta Burksilon V, you'll hear Cedric the Owl (from King's Quest 5) say "If you're going in there, Graham, I'm staying out here" or "If you're staying out here, Graham, I'm going in there." (depends whether the door is open or closed). The games at the arcade are parodies of games or jokes. . Here's a list: "Mixed Up Mother Theresa" - "Mixed up Mother Goose" by Roberta Williams. "Beat the crap out of Urkel" - Urkel was the star of an old comedy. He would constantly play accordian and act all stupid and clumsy. "Disembowling for Dollars" - "Bowling for Bucks" (a US game show) "MBA Toejam" - "NBA Jam" by Acclaim "Secret Recipes of the Luftwaffe" - "Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe" "Stooge Fighter III" - "Street Fighter II" "More Dull Kombat II" - "Mortal Kombat II" During the introduction, Admiral Toolman throws Roger's underpants up into the air, and they turn into the DeepShip 86. This is a take-off of the intro from Stanley Kubric's "2001: A Space Oddysey", in which a monkey throws a skeleton bone into the air which turns into a spaceship. Jebba the Hop is a spoof on the evil snail-guy, Jabba the Hutt, in the third (sixth) Star Wars movie. The Bjorn collective is a spoof on the Borg from Star Trek: The Next Generation. The name came from a Swedish tennis player, whose name was (is) Bjorn Borg. Dr. Beleauxs' computer monitor is from Cyberdyne, the hightech company that invented the Skynet-chips in the Terminator movies. The opening sequence is kidding around with the movie JUDGE DREDD, in which Stallone is also stripped, although they didn't go as far out as in SQ6. Commander Kielbasa's scratching post, er, command center is capable of getting him to level six of "Super Nunzio World", a parody of Nintendo's "Super Mario World". Also, a part of the console is actually a Gravis GamePad. The cyberspace receptionist is called Sys Inny - a name which, when pronounced "correctly", becomes a Windows system file, SYSTEM.INI. One of the building machines in cyberspace is a spoof on one of the weapons in DOOM. The yellow machine to the left is called a BFT-9000 Cyberearth mover - the seventh weapon in DOOM is called a BFG-9000. Since BFG means "Big Fragging Gun", BFT probably means "Big Fragging Truck" or something similar. When talking to the brig replicator, Roger will say: "Tea. Earl Grey. Hot," in reference to Captain Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation. The sequence where Roger is being chased by the gigantic gallstone in Stellar's digestive systems is a direct steal on the opening sequence in "Raiders of the Lost Ark". The sentence "Big Brother is watching you!", which appears on the scrolling board in the shuttlebay entrance, an often-used sentence in the book "1984". R2D2 from Star Wars has been reduced to a GenBlood blender in Fester's "Implants-N-Stuff". A marine dropship from the Alien movies is in the bottom right row in the shuttle bay. A Star Trek shuttle (with the unmistakeable 1701D insignia) is located in the middle of the left row (in the shuttlebay, of course). One of the random exit messages is "Aren't you glad your middle name isn't Lawrence?". This is a poke at the game designer Josh Mandel. The reason? Josh's middle name is Lawrence. The "Abby Normal" brain in Fester's Implants-N-Stuff is from "Young Frankenstein". The endodroid is a mixture of the T-1000 Terminator from "Terminator 2: Judgement Day" and Roy Batty, who was the leader of the escaped Replicants in the movie "Blade Runner". This becomes apparent when Roger freezes the endodroid and makes fun of the "Hasta la vista, baby!" phrase. He says "Frosta la keister, baby!". The Qodrac Mobile Photo Booth is a spoof on the Kodak Non-Mobile Photo Booth. Look at the Sectors command in the cyberspace office. Gary Owens (the narrator) says "You probably want us to say something corny, like 'Klingons in sector 2.8, Captain'", in reference to Star Trek. Blaine Rohmer is obviously a spoof on the Blade Runners, from Ridley Scott's "Blade Runner" movie. The only replicator code that produces a response is the Bjorn Chow code from the demo (no. 7469410). The DeepShip's full name (as shown in the opening sequence) is DeepShip 86 LSL6 BFD. LSL6 BFD means "Leisure Suit Larry 6: Big F___ing Deal". In the basement of the Orion's Belt, there's a spider on one of the pipes to the left. If you HAND it, it falls to the floor, screaming. The gravedigger at Stellar's funeral is also the gravedigger at St. Louis Cemetery in "Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers". Okay, this is a weird one: In the intro, Kielbasa says "Thank you" 36 times. On the screens shown during that time, there are definitely not 36 crew members. However, if you count ALL the people showing up on the DeepShip, including the 7 storm poopers, excluding the monster in the brig and the gravedigger at the funeral, the summa is 36. Strange. The title is based upon the Final Frontier. The bottom left ship in the shuttlebay might be from "Lost in Space". The red shuttle in the bottom-right corner is "Shuttle 2" from the old TV-series, "Thunderbirds". In the cyberspace office, clicking the EYE-cursor on the background produces the response: "You saw it here first. A preview of the famed information superhighway. Wow!". However, after six or seven more clicks, Gary will say: "Wow! This makes my nipples hard!" instead. If you Ctrl+Click on the video screen in 8-Rear 7 times, the programmer's "Renegade Credits" will appear. You'll also be rewarded by Roger saying "I'm Roger Wilco and I'll kick your ass! I know where you live" at the end. A reference to Wayne's World in one of the shuttles. When looking at it, Gary gives a description, after which Roger delivers the W.W. cliche: "It will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine." When Roger looks in the mirror, Gary says he sees a brunette overacting in a stone tower, afterwhich Roger squeals, "Mother, mother, come quick!". A reference to King's Quest VI. When Gary during the intro says, "In a deserted warehouse just outside the galaxy", it could be a poke at the Carmen Sandiago game, where each game begins with a similar remark. Admiral Toolman could be a spoof on the Admiral Tolwyn from the Wing Commander series. Flembukit's multimedia wondermachine, 3DOA, is a spoof on Panasonic's 3DO console. Also manufactured by Goldstar. And yes, the 3DO console is also highpriced and plays a half dozen bad arcade games. One of Singent Flembukit's 3DOA CD's is "The Outpost Project Survival Guide". A spoof on Bruce Balfour's space strategy game, Outpost. An UN-COMPLETE movie title guide to the movies at the Polysorbate LX cinema marquee: Aliens's (Aliens with Sigourney Weaver, or Sir-Tech's Jagged Aliens?) Bucket Dreams (Hoop Dreams) Fist Full of Buckazoids ("Fistfull of Dollars", a Clint Eastwood western) For a Few Buckazoids More ("For a Few Dollars More", another Clint Eastwood spaghetti western) Future Schlock ("Future Shock", a scifi thriller in VR, ca.1994) Gumby vs. Mr Bill (Gumby is a green stop-motion character and Mr. Bill is a character from the TV show Saturday Night Live, fighting as in Godzilla vs. Mothra) Hudson Hawk Goes to Washington ("Hudson Hawk", Bruce Willis) Johnny Pneumatic ("Johnny Mnemonic", William Gibson scifi with Keanu Reeves) Josh Mandela: The Legend Continues (Josh Mandel was the original designer of SQ6, "Mandela" is a reference to Nelson Mandela) The Last of the Andromedans ("The Last of the Mohicans") The Last Stoogefighter ("The Last Starfighter") Linoleum Cheese: A Janitor's Tale (?) Little Debbie Does Delta Burksilon (an American porn film, Debbie Does Dallas, also: Little Debbie is a snack food chain (last part submitted by Morgan. R. Lewis)) Mary Ann vs. Ginger ("Gilligan's Island", the Mary Ann/Ginger sweetness feud) Michele Aleshire, will you marry me? (Michele Aleshire is Bill Shockley (the programmer's) fiancee, and they were recently married) The Organ ("The Piano") Outpost: The Movie (A reference to Bruce Balfour's scifi strategy game, Outpost) Raiders of the Lost Semicircle ("Raiders of the Lost Ark", the first Indiana Jones movie) Razing Arizona ("Raising Arizona", with Nicholas Cage) So I Married an Endodroid ("So I Married an Axe-Murderer", horror) Space Quest 1: The Sarien Encounter Space Quest 2: Vohaul's Revenge Space Quest 3: The Pirates of Pestulon Space Quest 4: Roger Wilco and the Time Rippers Space Quest 5: The Next Mutation Space Quest 6: Roger Wilco and the Colon of Doom Space Quest 7: The Musical Star Trek XVIII: The Search for Kahn's Implanted Pecs ("Star Trek 2: Kahn's Revenge" and "Star Trek 3: The Search for Spock) Superman vs. Batman Tango & Cash XXVII: The Sequel ("Tango and Cash", Sly Stallone) Think Tank Girl ("Tank Girl", comic based movie) Triple X-Files ("X-Files", supernatural tv-series) True Flies ("True Lies", Arnold Schwarzenegger) Zorbot the Greek ("Zorba the Greek, Anthony Quinn) Beleauxs' books in the lab include "The Hunt for Red Corpuscle" (The Hunt for Red October) and "All I Need to Know I Learned from the Q Continuum" - the Q Continuum is the being-place for the Q entity in Star Trek TNG and DS9. A graffiti on the wall outside the arcade on Polysorbate LX reads "DARMOK+JALOD 4EVER". A reference to the Star Trek: TNG episode, "Darmok". The Mr. Soylent food replicators is a spoof on an old scifi movie entitled "Soylent Green". The movie is in the future where humans have used up all of the Earth's resources and have to live underground because the air is so polluted. The only thing left to eat on the planet is a nutrient supplement called Soylent Green. Also in the future, the "leaders" decide when you're old enough to die. When it's your "time", you're sent to a special room where you can be "enlightened" before dying. Well, the story goes, two guys who were deemed fit to die, didn't want to. So they got away and began to wander around. They found the "enlightenment room" and found out what they were doing with the dead people. They were processing them into, yes you guessed it, the Soylent Green machines! So now you know what the Soylent Clear jingle means when it says, "Clearly less people, clearly more taste!" Almost all the drinks on Polysorbate LX are spoofs of famous sci-fi writers: Raymond E. Feisterbray (Raymond E. Feist) Samuel Douglas Adams (Douglas Adams + Sam Adams (beer)) Alan Dean Foster's Draft Ale (Alan Dean Foster) "wicked ale from Ray's Bradbrewery" (Ray Bradbury) Silverberg Bullet (Robert Silverberg) Ursula K. LeGuinness Stout (Ursula K. LeGuin + Guinness (beer)) (This one is the winner of the Nebuale award (Nebula Award)) Harlon Aleison (Harlan Ellison) Beers Anthony (Piers Anthony) "a wild-roddenberry flavored stuff" (Gene Roddenberry) Heinleinekin (Robert Heinlein + Heineken (beer)) Sappournelle (Jerry Pournelle + Sauvignon (white wine)) Marion Zima Bradley (Marion Zimmer Bradley + Zima(clear beverage)) Watney's Red Planet (?) Asimov Cocktail (Isaac Asimov) William Gibson (William Gibson) Peltz. Drinks on Polysorbate LX that are not spoofs on scifi writers: Jurassic Dark (a spoof on Spielberg's "Jurassic Park" movie) Babylon .45 (a spoof on the tv-series "Babylon V") Star Beck (a spoof on "Star Trek"; the slogan for this beer is "it makes you go where no man has gone before", a spoof on the well known Star Trek opening monologue) Major Kirin (maybe Major Kira, from Star Trek DS9?) Red Dog (A tribute to the people that did "Slater & Charlie go camping". A little nickname.) The game's "slogan", "In Space No One Can Hear You Clean", is a spoof on Ridley Scott's slogan for the Alien movies, "In Space No One Can Hear You Scream". Amongst the "Classifieds" in the PJOL magazine that comes with the game is an ad for Bill Shockley (the programmer) who is doing business as a cyberdate, an ad for Balfour's AI Fix-it Shop (a reference to Leslie Balfour) and an ad for programmers that can code Binky. If you can code Binky, call Larry S. (this might be a reference to Larry Scott) Two arguments have been recorded in the Cyberspace office. When you click on the numbered cards BEFORE picking them up, the director (played by William Hall) will demand that Scott changes a part of the script. When you look at the trash can, Gary Owens (the narrator) will get worried about being sued and the director will pop in again. About the name Delta Burksilon... it might be a spoof on Delta Burke, who is an obese actress. (submitted by Morgan R. Lewis) Spear of Destiny ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Go to change view. Hold down "i" and "d" at the same time. Keep holding them and push escape. You'll see a goofy hidden picture. Take a break! Pinball ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Two of the eight tables included are named "Planet Pinball", which feature Roger Wilco in the Space Quest 4 setting. The first table's artwork features a Xenon background from Vohaul's Revenge II (with lanes entitled "Rope Me", "Energize!" and "Shoot the Sewer"). The second one is a Galaxy Galleria table. Terminal Velocity ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ When you start a new game in the registered CD version, you can get to the hidden planet by entering "Terminal" as your name and "Reality" as your call sign. (Both of these are case sensitive.) The hidden planet is not in the shareware version or the disk based registered version. (obtained from the 3DRealms FAQ) Also, in level 3-1 of Terminal Velocity, fly close to the ground near the coordinates (63,227). You will see a photographic image of the Terminal Reality team. If you fly too high, the fog will obstruct the view. A clearer version of this can be found as a GIF file on the Terminal Velocity CD in the PREVIEW directory. (also obtained from the 3DRealms FAQ) Tomb Raider ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This isn't in the game but rather in the game manual. I'm not sure if it's the same for the video game ones. Anyway, in the back there are the letters HFCIT. They stand for "How Freakin' Cool Is That?," a phrase that the folks at Eidos used a lot when making the game. (submitted by Tegrenath) Tomer Fishman will die (Space Quest fan-game) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Tomer Fishman is a webmaster of a SQ site called World-O-Wonders (which is probably why Fester refers to him as "boss". The phone number that turns debug mode on is Janez Kranjc's (the game's author's) number. He responds too. The phone number that turns debug mode off is Domen's number. He responds too. Tomer was shot by Sonny Bonds, the main character in Police Quests 1-3 (guess Janez put him in because he just got PQ1 at the time). Toonstruck ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ When you're at the Arcade in Cutopia and talk to the clerk for the first time, ask him about the game in the middle. He'll mention the games "Sweet Fighter" (spoof on "Street Fighter") and "Mortal Wombat" (spoof on "Mortal Kombat") Also, the not-so-popular game in the middle is called "Wacman" (spoof on "Pacman", a really old game). Toshinden ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ On the character select screen, type "GIMMEJIM" (NO CAPS). Hit left to go to Earthworm Jim. Hit left again to access the two bosses. Tyrian ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ At the main menu, type "destruct" (no quotes) to access the secret built-in Artillery-style game. Visual Basic 5.0 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ For a flashy credits listing, right click on the main menu bar and choose Customize. With the dialog still up, click on the main Help Menu. Right click on "About Microsoft Visual Basic". The name of the menu item is now editable in a popup. Change its name to "Show VB Credits". Close out of the customize dialog. Now, just choose "Show VB Credits" from the menu. Wacky Wheels ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ At the beginning of the race, don't accelerate. Just hold the brake and spin there (it doesn't matter whether you spin to the left or to the right). After some time, the DopeFish (from Keen 4) will appear, burping. However, the lion that starts the race must remain on the screen. Warcraft 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Look for any sheep/pigs/seals. When you find one, click on it many times. Eventually, the rodent will burst into flames! In "Beyond the Dark Portal", Press Enter to turn on Message, type "disco" (without quotes), then press Enter again. If you are playing the CD music, it will play the secret disco track. (of course, you can always pop the CD into your CD player and play track 18.) If you are only playing midi, it will just switch to another background music. (submitted by Tegrenath) In the Warcraft II Tips window, there will be some funny tips that aren't game related: - Never pet a burning dog. - Never spit into the wind. - Always proceed with caution when driving through a blind intersection. - Always wear bright clothing when riding a bicycle at night. - Never talk to strangers. - Remember to change your underwear daily. - Tell all your friends to buy Warcraft II. (submitted by Tegrenath) Wing Commander 4 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In one of the briefings that Blair is leading, you can freeze-frame the shot to see that the tactical display's text is actually poetry. Wolfenstein 3D ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ On the secret level in episode 3, PacMan and the ghosts appear. In a particularly nasty maze somewhere is a sign saying "Call Apogee and say Aardwolf!". This was supposed to be a contest. If you called, you could win something. But soon after the game was released, various editors and stuff came out. So the contest was dropped. The codes on the high score table were also supposed to be a contest, but they also got dropped. X-Wing ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Change your system clock to December 25, then start X-Wing. Look in the crowd on the flagship Independance to see Santa! Xenophage: Alien Bloodsport ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The game has a secret character called Blarney. Yes, he's a dinosaur. ;) At the menu, type in "xacman" (no caps) to play a game similar to Pacman. If you type in "orchid" (NO CAPS!!) on the fight screen and Selena is on the screen, she will start to blossom. Yoda Stories ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ On the mission where you have to destroy the cloning machine, when you get into the control room behind the cloning machine, there's a back door. If you leave through it, a spaceship will appear. If you decide to go with the alien that appears (just talk to him and you'll go with him), you get to meet Indiana Jones (and he looks exactly like in "Indiana Jones and his Desktop Adventures"). As a side note, Luke will say that Indy looks a lot like Han, which is understandable, since they're both played by the same actor (Harrison Ford, I think). Zeliard ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The city Dorado in the caverns of Tesoro is named after the legendary city of gold, El Dorado. Zork Nemesis ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Anywhere in the game, type in "chloe" (w/o quotes). You will be transported to the library. Open a book (we don't know if it matters which one). Turn the first page. A photo of a programmer will appear. Anywhere in the game, type in "hello sailor" (no quotes). A woman's voice will say: "Nothing happens here." We've heard that this was a foul curse in all the other Zork games which produced some sort of penalty (but in all of our Zorks it produces the "Nothing happens here" response too, if there's a location limit or something, tell us). Zork: The Undiscovered Underground ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In the Mud Room, there are models of some things. One is the house from Zork 1, another is the hot air ballon from Zork 2. ZZT 1: Town of ZZT ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ East of the Town Centre (where you start), there's a cave. Go in, light a torch and make your way to the passage at the upper left. You should get to a large Z. Go past it at the top and there'll be a purple door. You'll need to use one of the purple palace keys here. Inside is another key, gems and a closed passageway with a sign saying "This way to the Caves of ZZT". (the Caves of ZZT is the second ZZT game) THE END THE END THE END (did we mention that this is the end?)
