A: Games that really take advantage of multi-player use "Real-Time" turns.
   Simultaneous turns would come next.

Q: How do use an ftp site?
A: Assuming you are at a unix prompt,

  ftp -i infant2.sphs.indiana.edu  ; -i suppresses multi-file prompts
  login: ftp                       ; use "ftp" or "anonymous" for login name
  password: mylogin@               ; password is your login followed by "@"
  cd /pub/doom                     ; "cd" to change directories
  dir                              ; "dir" or "ls" to view file list
  ls -lt                           ; "-lt" to view most recent files firest
  bin                              ; short for "binary" file transfers
  get filename.txt |more           ; to display a text file on the screen
  get filename.txt -               ; another way to display text
  mget file1.zip file2.zip ...     ; to download some files

Q: How do email games work?
A: "email" games do not require direct interaction between the players.
   One player processes a turn, and emails a file describing his actions
   to the other player(s).  The other player(s) program reads this file,
   and updates the game.

Q: What's a "Null Modem"?
A: A cable linking the serial ports of two PCs.  On a 9-Pin connector,
   pins 2 and 3 are reversed between the two computers.  Pins 5 is
   straight through:

   Cable with a 9 pin connector on each end
         Pin       Pin
     RxD  2 <-----> 3  TxD
     TxD  3 <-----> 2  RxD
     Grd  5 <-----> 5  Grd

   Cable with a 25 pin connector on each end
         Pin       Pin
     TxD  2 <-----> 3  RxD
     RxD  3 <-----> 2  TxD
     Gnd  7 <-----> 7  Gnd

   Cable with a 25 pin connector on one end, and a 9 pin on the other
